Four Arrested For Allegedly Beating Nagpur Man On Suspicion Of Carrying Beef

NAGPUR -- Four people have been reportedly arrested for allegedly beating up a man on suspicion of carrying beef in Nagpur's Bharsingi village.

The incident took place on Wednesday at 11.30 a.m.

"Salim Ismail Shah, 32, was carrying 15 kgs of meat on his motorcycle from Amner village to Katol, when he was accosted by four persons who beat him up, alleging he was carrying beef. Shah sustained injuries for which he was admitted to a hospital, from where he has been discharged," Jalalkheda Police Inspector Vijaykumar Tiwari told The Indian Express.

Among the arrested are Tandulkar, Uikey, Taywade and Chaudhari. Out of the four, three are auto-rickshaw drivers who had joined Tandulkar to attack Shah.

"We are taking strict action to ensure such incidents are not repeated," Times of India quoted SP, Nagpur rural, Shailesh Balkawade saying.

An investigation into the case is underway.
