A schoolgirl in the town of Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, was made to sit on a hot iron slide in the playground as a punishment for urinating in the class.
The child's parents complained that their daughter had been seriously injured and had burnt her buttocks as the result of the punishment, and held protests outside the school demanding punishment for the teacher, according to NDTV.
The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights had issued a notice to the Collector and Superintendent of Police, West Godavari district and sought a detailed report in two weeks.
"Teachers do not have the right training to deal with children and the issues related to them," child rights body member Achut Rao told NDTV. "This teacher doesn't qualify to be with the children, if she doesn't understand a small issue like this," he added.
